"We are participating in the 27th World Road Congress of the highest level, where many countries are represented, experiences are shared, and very important and interesting issues are discussed. We also share the information that we have regarding the development of the road direction, the construction of highways and the development of the road industry in general. In his speech, the minister emphasized the importance of the middle corridor passing through Georgia and the planned development, within the framework of which the projects implemented in Georgia prepared the transport corridor to meet the increased traffic flows. He noted that after the completion of the current and planned projects in the country, the travel time on the East-West International Highway will be halved, which will significantly increase its attractiveness and will almost triple the bandwidth under the conditions of the modern international standard road.

Irakli Karseladze informed the participants of the ministerial meeting about the measures and projects provided for the sustainable development of infrastructure under the 10-year development plan "Vision 2030" developed by the Government of Georgia.

During the congress, in which ministers, road experts and practitioners from different countries of the world participate, ministerial sessions, specialized seminars, working meetings between partners, exhibitions, social and other types of events are held. Reports prepared by PIARC committees for 2020-2023 will be discussed at the sessions and meetings.

Organized by the World Road Association (PIARC), the first World Road Congress was held in Paris in 1908. The World Road Congress is held every four years in a member country. The purpose of the meetings is to share world experience in the field of road infrastructure and road transport.
