The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is actively continuing the rehabilitation of the 8 km section of the Fonichala-Marneuli-Guguti international road.

The rehabilitation section is located in the territory of Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities and will pass through the villages of Kizil-Ajlo, Farizi and Tsurtavi. The road passes through a densely populated section.

The rehabilitation project envisages the improvement of technical parameters of the road, rehabilitation of the road surface, repair of culverts and existing artificial structures and arrangement of new ones; arrangement of connections, entrances to residents' yards and bus stops; as well as the marking of the carriageway of the road and the arrangement of traffic signs.

The cost of the project is 6 184 352 GEL and its completion is planned at the end of this year.

The Fonichala-Marneuli-Guguti road leads to the border of the Republic of Armenia, and its development is important both for transit shipments and for convenient access to the tourist facilities of Bolnisi and Dmanisi.
