The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is continuing the rehabilitation of the 30 km Tianeti-Akhmeta section of the Tianeti-Akhmeta-Kvareli-Ninigori road.

The rehabilitation section connects the municipalities of Akhmeta and Tianeti.

At this stage, the works of land clearing, construction of slope supporting structures, arrangement of road surface construction and laying of asphalt pavement are in progress.

Akhmeta-Tianeti road passes through part of the villages of Ilto valley and connects Kakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regions. Rehabilitation of the road is important both from the point of view of socio-economic and tourism development of the valley.

Within the framework of the project, the road will be fully rehabilitated, 2 new bridges will be built and 1 existing bridge will be rehabilitated. Also, embankment works of Ilto River will be carried out.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the World Bank and its value is 12.1 million GEL. The completion of the project is planned for March 2023.
