A public meeting was held to get acquainted with the environmental impact and resettlement procedures within the construction of the local road to Gudauri

Within the framework of the Kvesheti-Kobi project, a public meeting was held with those affected by the construction of a local access road to Gudauri to familiarize them with the environmental impact assessment document and the procedures set out in the Resettlement Action Plan. The meeting was chaired by Mikheil Ujmajuridze, Head of the Environment and Social Affairs Service, and representatives of the Accommodation and Environment Protection Service.

Implementation of Gudauri access road construction project is planned in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, Dusheti municipality. The new road includes the Zakatkari-Gudauri access road and connects the existing road with Zakatkari, from where it will be connected to the Kvesheti-Kobi road.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Roads Department introduced the procedures provided by the Environmental Impact Assessment Document and the Resettlement Action Plan to the population. Detailed information was also provided on the social activities covered by the resettlement document and implemented by the department under the project. In addition, planned environmental mitigation measures were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the questions asked by the population, which were directly related to the project, social packages and environmental impact assessment, were given comprehensive answers by the representatives of the department.

Length of the new access road to Gudauri, 5 km. And through it, the village of Zakatkari will be connected to the town of Gudauri, which will allow us to bypass the road between Arakhveti and Gudauri. In the existing section, the traffic intensity is very high, the new road will make it more comfortable and safer to move around, as well as make it easier to visit the resort and use the resort infrastructure.

It should be noted that within the framework of the project, a tourist center will be built along the access road to Gudauri.
