The Department of Roads of Georgia has completed the complete rehabilitation of 57 street road infrastructure in Kutaisi since 2019.
Rehabilitation of 60-street road infrastructure in Kutaisi was started by the Roads Department within the framework of the cities support project, on the instructions of the government, of which the rehabilitation of 57 streets has already been completed.
Complete rehabilitation of 2 central, sparsely populated streets of Kutaisi - Agmashenebeli (3 km) and Tsereteli streets (2.8 km) started in September 2020 and will be completed in September 2021.
The several-month delay in the completion of the works was due to the need for thorough restoration and replacement of the underground communications identified during the construction of a new drainage system instead of a fully amortized drainage network. It became necessary to plan and carry out additional work. However, due to improper performance of works on Agmashenebeli Street, the Department of Roads had to terminate its contract with the contractor company and identify a new contractor, which objectively took more time.
As part of the rehabilitation of Kutaisi streets, asphalt-concrete pavement was restored on the rehabilitated streets, artificial buildings, drainage and sewerage network, sidewalks and road signs were rehabilitated.
The total cost of the rehabilitation streets was more than 39 million GEL, and the total length was more than 34 km.
In addition, in 2019-2020, Kutaisi 2 central - Youth and Chavchavadze, Avenue avenue periodic repair works were completed.
In parallel with the rehabilitation of Kutaisi streets, the Roads Department is actively continuing the rehabilitation works of Zugdidi and Poti streets. Rehabilitation of 47 street traffic infrastructure from 67 streets in Zugdidi has already been completed. In Poti, works have been completed on 4 streets, and rehabilitation of 5 streets is starting now.
As part of the city support program, the city's road infrastructure will be fully regulated, drainage systems will be updated, yard entrances and sidewalks will be arranged, which will ensure safe, comfortable movement in cities and reduce travel time.
