Bid proposals submitted by eligible bidders in international competitive bidding announced for construction of Bridge Over Rioni River and Access Roads were opened.  Twelve companies submitted bid proposals. The next stage considers selection-evaluation of the proposals.

Approximate length of access roads to be constructed is 2 km. The length of the bridge is 432 m.

Existing road runs through hydro site, technical parameters of which cannot ensure uninterrupted and safe traffic. Construction of a new steel and reinforce-concrete 8-span bridge will solve the pending issue and assist to ensure safe drive and uninterrupted transit flows towards Poti on international road.  Asian Development Bank finances the project. 

Poti Bridge is a part of the highway. E60-E70 highway is the shortest road connecting the countries of Europe and Asia. Depending on physical location of the highway, it has potential to become a major transportation hub between the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea and Central Asia
