Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Khergiani inspected rehabilitation works on Urbnisi monastery access road.

Rehabilitation 1 km section is situated in Qareli municipality. Mentioned road leads to the VI century historical monument- Urbnisi Monastery and connects village Urbnisi and Urbnisi monastery with Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze bypass.

Rehabilitated section has not been upgraded for 30 years and  Practically nothing was maintained from asphalt-concrete pavement. Project considers construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, arrangement of culverts, ditches, gabions, junctions, entrances to private yards, safety barriers, road signs and horizontal marking. At this stage  road base works are ongoing.

Rehabilitation works commenced  in December of 2015 year and will finish in Spring of 2016 year. The cost of the project is GEL 566,6 and it is financed from the state budget.
