Landslide and rock fall often takes place at the carriageway of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road due to high mountainous terrain. Roads Department is informed.  “ Tushet  gza” Ltd, company responsible for maintaining of respective road, carries out intensive cleaning works.

Km18-km72 section of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road runs through difficult rocky terrain, whereon pass section is at 2800 m altitude above the sea level. Width of the carriageway is about 5 m that impedes traffic.

Cleaning of mentioned section is unable in winter due to difficult climate and terrain conditions, therefore traffic is forbidden in winter. During other period movement is allowed only for off-road vehicles. Roads Department and Contractor Company “Tushet gza” LTD constantly carrying out maintenance works in order to resolve timely all problems existing on road and maintain uninterrupted traffic flow.

Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road is considered as one of the most complicated roads in Europe.
