First Deputy Chairman of RD Nugzar Gasviani and other representatives of the Department met with Team Leader of Asian Development Bank Prianka Seneviratne and representatives of design company “Kocks”. At the meeting was made presentation of feasibility study of Dzirula-Chumateleti road, after which modernization process of 50 km road will launch.
Dzirula-Chumateleti road runs through Kharagauli city and 10 villages and serves 37,000 residents. Respective road is a link between Kharagauli Municipality and E-60 highway, which is the main international road artery. It also connects main towns of Georgia. As a result of project implementation, 50 km long Dzirula-Chumateleti section would be upgraded; road link and traffic safety would be improved.
At this stage, Dzirula-Chumateleti section has mostly gravel pavement. It has not been rehabilitated since 90-ies. Rehabilitation of respective section will assist to unload main Highway (E-60), also promote capacity building in agriculture and tourism, that would have social importance and tourist and visitors not only from Georgia but from other countries would be able to travel comfortably and visit amazing and unique places. Migration process would be reduced due to improvement of living conditions of communities of Borjomi-Kharagauli Municipality.
