The Roads Department of Georgia is executing rehabilitation works of the secondary road to the village of Mikeliani in Dusheti municipality.

The road starts from the village of Mchadijvari in Dusheti district and follows the upper part of the Narekhevi river valley to the settlements of Greviskhevi community. The road serves 11 villages of Gremiskhevi community, local arable land and forestry. In the last century, Gremiskhevi community was one of the many settlements in Georgia. For today, the villages are on the verge of evacuation, one of the reasons for which was the unorganized road infrastructure.

At this stage, the construction of artificial structures is actively underway at the construction site, which includes the arrangement of gabion walls, rectangular and round reinforced concrete pipes, retaining walls and ditches. In addition, asphalt cover (bottom layer) was laid in the settlement of Mikhelani village. The foundation of the road-mat is in the active phase, and it is planned to lay the asphalt-concrete cover in the coming days and finish it by the end of the year.  

The two-layer asphalt-concrete cover will be laid on 11.4 km road section and the entrances to the yard, sidewalks and reinforced concrete gutters will be arranged on the populated section. As the existing road surface was full of soil and there was actually no road infrastructure on the road, the project identified a number of works to improve road traffic safety (metal curved poles, signal poles, road signs and horizontal markings).

The project is financed from the state budget with GEL 5.9 million.
