"Rescue works are actively underway in the disaster zone. For this stage, 85 units of equipment have been mobilized. This is heavy equipment, which, together with the emergency management service, has been allocated to 7 priority areas. One of the priorities was to build a road in the direction of sour waters and overcome the background of the river, which has already been achieved by now. Accordingly, 3 units of equipment have been moved to this place together with the rescuers and search works are underway" - Papuna Gamkrelidze, Deputy Chairman of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, said about this from the disaster zone of Racha.

According to him, the Roads Department, together with the contractor companies, mobilized excavators, bulldozers, loaders and cranes. This technique helps the relevant services in carrying out search and rescue operations in difficult to overcome mudslides.

During the day, heavy equipment worked both in the Shovi area and in the river, in order to clean and clear the background. Also, we carried out works on the river Bdghviora, which is not related to the mentioned natural events. We started the works here, at the request of the population, for the purpose of prevention," said Papuna Gamkrelidze.

The Deputy Chairman of the Roads Department responded to the information spread about the Juta road and explained that the individual sections of this road were systematically monitored, and the initial studies were conducted at the end of 2022.

"At this stage, the project documentation of the Juta road has already been prepared. On July 21, the task was given to the construction company, which has already started mobilization works. Rehabilitation works will start in the next few days. Therefore, in the course of the works, for the sake of safety, we have planned to ban the traffic of vehicles", said Papuna Gamkrelidze.
