"Works are being carried out at an intense pace on the 33-km section of the Gombori road, within the framework of which landslide prevention measures are being carried out. Voluminous works are planned, including rehabilitation of 6 bridges, arrangement of new water pipes and reinforced concrete lower and upper supporting walls. Currently, as a whole, 1 billion 100 million GEL road infrastructure projects are underway in the Kakheti region. It is worth noting that the main road construction project and also the rehabilitation projects, within the scope of which the rehabilitation of 165 km of road is being carried out only in the Kakheti region," said Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze after inspecting the road rehabilitation works in the Kakheti region.

The rehabilitation works of the 33.6 km section of the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi secondary road in the Kakheti region are actively being carried out by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Gombori road is characterized by high traffic intensity. In this way, both the local population and the tourists coming to the country benefit. The damaged, collapsed and deformed areas of the road could no longer ensure the safety and comfortable movement of traffic, which is why a road rehabilitation project was planned.

According to the project, complete rehabilitation of the carriageway, laying of asphalt-concrete pavement, rehabilitation of 6 bridges, arrangement of new water pipes and reinforced concrete lower and upper retaining walls are provided. Also, measures against landslides will be carried out, sidewalks, connections and local entrances will be repaired, entrances to residents' yards, bus parking area and auto pavilion will be arranged, road signs will be arranged and road horizontal marking works will be carried out.

The project is financed by 66,700,000 GEL from the state budget. The work is planned to be completed in the fall of 2024.

Currently, 25 projects are underway in Kakheti, of which 4 are high-speed road construction projects. The rehabilitation of the 30 km and 11.5 km sections of the Tianeti-Akhmeta-Kvareli-Ninigori road and the 72 km Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road are being rehabilitated within the framework of the road traffic improvement project.
