A tender was announced for the construction of the Stepantsminda-Gveleti road

=The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has announced a tender for the construction of the 4.5 km section of the Stepantsminda-Gveleti highway. Acceptance of bids will begin on July 24 and end on July 28.

The project will be financed from the state budget and tender procedures will be conducted in accordance with international procurement rules. The estimated cost of the works is 246 million GEL.

Stefantsminda-Gveleti section is part of Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi international road, constituting the E117 European route and the North-South corridor.

The construction section is located in the Kazbegi municipality and, in fact, will pass through uninhabited territory. The new road will start near Stepantsminda and will reach the new tunnel of Dariali. The project envisages the construction of a 2-lane 4.5 km road, 2 bridges and 2 tunnels.

On the Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi road, the construction of the 23-km road and the 9-km tunnel under Kvesheti-Kobi is actively continuing, where the main tunnel has already been drilled at 6.6 km, and the work in the evacuation tunnel is already underway at a depth of 4.7 km.

Modernization of the Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi road is important for the economic development of the country and the region and the improvement of the social conditions of the population. As a result of ongoing and planned projects, local residents will have access to all necessary economic and social services at any time of the year, and road traffic will be safe.
