For several days, there has been unprecedented heavy snowfall and difficult meteorological conditions throughout Georgia, due to which certain restrictions have been imposed on road traffic throughout the country.

Throughout Georgia, road cleaning works and sand-salt mixture are being poured 24 hours a day. Snow removal equipment is mobilized in all necessary places. In total, more than 500 units of equipment are working on the cleaning works in order to maintain the traffic on the roads as much as possible.

As a result of the cleaning works, the traffic of trailers, semi-trailers and buses with a capacity of more than 30 seats has been restored on the Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale road.

The traffic of trailers and semi-trailers is restricted on the following road sections: on the km 40-km 260 (Mukhrani turn-Samtredia-Dafnari junction) section of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze road, Mtskheta-Stephantsminda Larsi road, Gudauri (posta office)-Kobi section, Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale road, on the km 38-km 86 (Keda-Paksadzebi) section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road, on the km 1-km 106 (Gomi-Zestafoni) section of Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiathura-Zestafoni road, on the km 99-km 125 (Chvelieri-Mele) secton of the Kutaisi (Tskaltubo turn)-Tskaltubo-Tsageri section of Lentekhi-Lasdil road, on the km 30-km 186 (Jvari-Ushguli) section of Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdil road, on the km 39-km 62 (Nakerala pass) Kutaisi (Mozameta)-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri road and Sachkhere (Sareki)-Uzunta-Skhmeri-Zudali road.

In addition, all types of vehicles are restricted on the km 86-km 106 (Paksadzebi-Goderdzi resort) section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road the section of Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road and on the km 53-km 66 (Korsha-Biso) section of the Kutaisi (Tskaltubo turn)-Tskaltubo road on the km 125-km 151 (Mele-Lasdil) section of the Tsageri-Lentekh-Lasdil road.

Light vehicle traffic is allowed with the use of anti-slip chains on the km 38-km 86 (Keda-Paksadzebi) section of Batumi (Angisa)-Akhaltsikhe road, on the km 25-km 53 (Magharos Kari-Korsha) section of the Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road and on the km 70-km 186 (Khaishi-Ushguli) section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road.

The Roads Department of Georgia urges the population to drive with tires suitable for the winter period, with proper road transport and to obey the regimes established on the roads.
