According to the information of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, today, an agreement was signed with the Turkish company Gocay Insaat Taahhut ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, the winner of the international tender, for the construction of the 17-km section of Sagarejo-Badiauri road, which is part of the Kakheti main road.

Within the framework of the project, a new transport junction near Badiauri village, 4 bridges, 8 road crossings and 86 water pipes will be built. The project also envisages the improvement of the existing local road network adjacent to the project section and its connection with the said section.

The Sagarejo-Badiauri 4-lane road section is a constituent part of the Kakheti road. As part of the construction of the road, construction works are already underway on the most important, 35 km section, which goes from Tbilisi to Sagarejo and is being built in 3 sections: Vaziani bypass road, Vaziani-Sagarejo section and Sagarejo bypass road. The construction of Vaziani bypass road is planned to be completed in 2023, and the remaining two sections - in 2024. The project envisages the construction of a 4-lane cement-concrete expressway equipped with an external lighting system, which, in compliance with international road safety norms, will allow us to move at 110 km per hour.

Works are also underway on the 16.6 km section of Bakurtsikhe-Tsnori, and the construction of the 15 km section of the Gurjaani bypass road has been completed.

The construction project of the 17 km long Sagarejo-Badiauri section is implemented with the financial support of the World Bank (WB) and its total cost is 276.7 million GEL. The works are planned to be completed by 2025.
