Road traffic was opened on the two 15 km long sections of the East-West international road (E60-E70) from this morning.

Traffic was opened on the fourth, 10 km section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti high-speed highway, where a 10 km long 4-lane asphalt-concrete road, 2 parallel overpasses and 1 traffic junction were built. The new section of the road passes through the territory of Lanchkhuti municipality and joins the Samtredia-Lanchkhuti-Grigoleti road. The works were carried out with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB), whose cost was 113 million GEL.

Traffic was also opened on 5 km of the 4-lane highway Grigoleti-Kobuleti. The construction works of the Grigoleti-Kobuleti bypass road include the construction of a 14.4 km 4-lane asphalt-concrete road, 22 bridge crossings, 4 traffic junctions, water pipes and underground exits. The works are actively continuing so that the 14 km section will be fully operational in 2023. Through this section, the Samtredia-Grigoleti road will be connected to the Kobuleti bypass road, and the traffic flows from Grigoleti to Kobuleti will now move along the high-speed highway. The project is supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and its value is 228 million GEL.

By opening traffic on new sections, the movement of road transport is significantly improved, both in terms of safety and time reduction. On the new sections, traffic will move on a 4-lane road conforming to the international road safety standard, which will halve the travel time on the 15 km section.
