The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has started the construction of the Vaziani-Sagarejo highway, which is part of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo road.
The project includes the construction of a 23.8 km 4-lane road and 13 bridge crossings. The cost of construction works is 313.4 million GEL.
At the moment, the installation of water-permeable reinforced concrete pipes and ground works are underway.
The 35-km Tbilisi-Sagarejo highway project is divided into 3 sections, where a 4-lane cement-concrete and partly asphalt-concrete road equipped with an external lighting system will be built. At this stage, construction works are underway on all three sections. The construction of the 35 km Tbilisi-Sagarejo expressway is financed from the state budget and its total cost is 527,169,937 GEL.
The Tbilisi-Sagarejo section is a part of the main connecting road from Tbilisi to Kakheti, as well as the transit corridor connecting it with the North-Western region of Azerbaijan. The existing road passes through densely populated villages and towns such as Vaziani, Sartichala, Ninotsminda and Sagarejo.
