Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestaponi road, within 2 projects, a total of 32.5 km of road is being rehabilitated. Rehabilitation section starts in Chiatura and ends in Zestaponi.

This road, on the East-West Central Highway, is one of the main alternatives to the Rikoti Pass section and its proper operation is of great importance for the continuous movement of local or transit transport. However, this road connects the 3 municipalities with each other and the villages adjacent to the road with the shortest distance to the district center.

The road surface on the Chiatura-Zestaponi section was significantly damaged, as well as many landslides, which made it difficult for vehicles to move.

Under the project, the carriageway will be completely renovated, a new sewerage system will be installed, the road retaining walls, connections to local roads and entrances to the residents' yards. In order to increase traffic safety, new road signs, eyewitnesses will be arranged and the road will be horizontally marked.

The renewed road will connect Chiatura and Zestaponi with the shortest road.

The project is financed from the state budget and its total cost is 38 746 900 GEL.

In addition, it should be noted that a tender has already been announced for the rehabilitation of landslides on 16 different sections of the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestaponi road (km84-km107).
