With the funding of the World Bank, an Agreement has been signed for road rehabilitation project on 9 different road sections in Guria region, for a total of about 63 km of road. The agreement was signed by Salome Tsurtsumia, Deputy Chair of Roads Department of Georgia, and Wang Fuhua, a representative of the company “China Road and Bridge Corporation”, the winner of the international tender. The project will be implemented in 7 lots.

The following road sections will be rehabilitated: 24.5 km long section of Chokhatauri-Bakhmaro road, 10.3 km section of Chokhatauri-Zomleti road, 2.8 km section of Ozurgeti-Natanebi-Ureki road and 25.6 km section of  Sajavakho-Chokhatauri-Ozurgeti-Kobuleti road.

The following works will be implemented on the mentioned road sections within the scope of the project: restoration and improvement of road base, arrangement of new artificial structures (culverts, retaining walls, etc.), arrangement of new asphalt-concrete pavement, improvement of traffic safety, arrangement of road signs and marking and delineation of the carriageway. 

These works will fully improve the road infrastructure on the sections to be rehabilitated, which will ensure safe and comfortable movement, reduce travel time and costs.

The works will be completed gradually within 18 months. The total value of the project is GEL 58.5 MIO.
