By the order of the Government of Georgia, the Roads Department is commencing the rehabilitation of local roads. Rehabilitation works will be carried out on the most damaged sections and streets in Dusheti, Gurjaani and the city of Poti municipalities.

In coordination with the local self-government, a total of 2 road sections and 5 streets in Dusheti, Gurjaani and Poti municipalities will be rehabilitated, which will cost more than GEL 21 400 000.

A 11.4 km access road of local importance to the village of Mikeliani, in the community of Gremiskhevi, Dusheti municipality, will be rehabilitated. The mentioned road is used by both the population of 11 villages of Gremiskhevi community (Tsikhisubani, Arboeti, Tkhilovani, Mikeliani, Petriani, Tsigriiantkari and so on) and the population adjacent to the road, as well as the service personnel of the reservoir on the river Narekvavi near the village of Mikeliani.

It is noteworthy, that these villages are 22 km away from the district center and there are problems in terms of both public transport and timely emergency medical care. The villages are located along the median lane. An existed road is soiled and severely damaged, making it difficult for vehicles to move, especially in rainy weather.

A 7km Gurjaani-Ziari local road will be rehabilitated in Gurjaani municipality. This road connects 10 villages of Gurjaani with the regional center. Moreover, in this area there are many villages with the status of highland settlements and great tourist potential.

The local streets of the city of Poti also require rehabilitation. Traffic on the damaged sections is complicated and there is virtually no road pavement. In order to solve the problem, 1.8km Zakaria Paliashvili Street, 1.5km Vakhtang Gorgasali Street, 1.76km Egnate Ninoshvili Street, 2.08km Giorgi Saakadze Street and 0.87km Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street will be rehabilitated in the city of Poti.

Rehabilitation of local roads will improve the performance of the road, and vehicles will move smoothly and safely.

Rehabilitation works will be conducted during 2020-2021.
