Roads Department conducts rehabilitation works of 15.4km Kintsvisi-Gverdzineti-Tkemlovani secondary road.

An existed road was mostly soiled and significantly hindered movement. The project envisages complete rehabilitation of the road. Artificial structures will be renewed, ditches and gabions will be arranged and a new bridge crossing will be constructed over Dzama River. Junctions to local roads, local entrances, entrances to residents’ yards and traffic signs will be arranged within the project. Excavation and pavement arrangement works are currently ongoing.

The section to be rehabilitated starts at the area of Kintsvisi village and by passing through Gverdzineti continues through Tkemlovani village. The mentioned road is the only access way to church-monastery placed in River Dzama gorge. Together with locals, monks of the monastery complex, pilgrims and tourists, use the road.

It is noteworthy, that in the future, by continuing Kintsvisi - Gverdzineti - Tkemlovana road Kareli municipality will connect with the resort settlements (Bakuriani, Mitarbi, etc.) in Borjomi administrative unit with the shortest route.

The project worth GEL 14, 489, 880 is state budget funded. Work completion is scheduled for August 2020.
