Roads Department presented 6-Month Activity Report today.
Unprecedented amount - GEL 397 838 275 was spent on road infrastructure improvement during the first part of 2019, which is higher by 36.4% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
The plan of Roads Department is to rehabilitate 550 km of road in 2019 that exceeds twice the indicator of the last year.
As of today, 237 projects are underway at Roads Department in terms of rehabilitation, total value of which is GEL 737 MIO, wherefrom 41 projects have already been finalized, but 70% of projects will be completed by the end of the year.
26 km long Nichbisi-Didgori-Didi Toneti road and 25.8 km long section connecting Chrebalo-Nikortsminda are under rehabilitation. Works are progressing on roads, which have never had asphalt-concrete pavement; among them is 28 km long Tianeti-Akhmeta road and 21 km long Khornabuji-Erisimedi road.
Works are actively progressing to rehabilitate tourist routes, including access road to Khvamli Mountain, access road to Okatse Canyon and Kintsvisi-Gverdzineti-Tkemlovani road.
Besides roads rehabilitation, disaster prevention and bank protection works were implemented within the first part of the year.
In total 228 tenders were announced and contracts in the value of GEL 541 103 278 were concluded within 6 months in 2019.
