Rustavi and Marneuli residents were introduced planned procedures for Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of Rustavi-Red Bridge project. Representatives of Roads Department of Georgia informed project affected persons about compensation considered within the RAP. Rustavi-Red Bridge road will pass through the municipalities of Marneuli and the city of Rustavi.  

All the project-affected persons will receive reparation in accordance to RAP.

Project affected persons were provided with information on the project implementation schedule and consulted about the procurement of land and principles of assets acquisition. Within the meeting, the population had the opportunity to ask questions about the issues of their interest and to get full answers on all topics.

The 31km road of the Rustavi-Red Bridge is part of the East-West corridor of the main highway of Georgia and ends to the Azerbaijani border. The European Investment Bank will finance Rustavi-Red Bridge road construction.

If today, travelling from the Red Bridge to Sarpi takes 8 hours, after completion of the highway, it will take 4-4.5 hours. The new 4-lane road will be constructed without opposite direction, in line with all safety measures and all modern standards.

The development of the East-West Corridor is of utmost importance for the country's internal development, as well as the improvement of Georgia's positions in the region as an attractive transport corridor. In addition to the growing tourist flow, special importance is paid to the arrangement of the safe and comfortable road infrastructure. Project implementation period is 2020-2022.
