According to Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, due to natural disaster, namely because of abundant precipitation and landslide, traffic is restricted at Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road and Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road. Relevant machinery are mobilized on both directions. Representatives of Roads Department and contractor organizations are on site.
Due abundant precipitation, carriageway at km 9 of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo secondary road, in Lechura village, was indulged by floodwater. Therefore, traffic is restricted at km9-km72 section of the mentioned road for all types of transport. Traffic is free at km1-km9 section of the mentioned road. Design works shall commence upon reduction of water level in Lechura village in order to carry out preventive measures in parallel with disaster clean-up operations.
A large mass collapsed at km59 of Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road. Cleaning works have already been started and traffic will be resumed tomorrow.
