Rehabilitation of 10-km road is completed on Ushguli-Mestia road

Rehabilitation of 10-km road was carried out in Ipari administrative unit of Mestia municipality on Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road.

First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Chairman of Roads Department Irakli Karseladze, Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Nino Vibliani and Mayor of Mestia municipality Kapiton Zhorzholiani inspected rehabilitated section.

Rehabilitated section starts from Ugviri Pass and goes to the village of Ipari. Within the project, 10-km concrete road was arranged and two bridges were rehabilitated. In addition, bus stops, entrances to private yards and junctions with local roads were arranged.

Rehabilitation works are continued on the additional 13-km section on Mestia-Ushguli connecting road. In sum, rehabilitation of 23 km road will be completed on this road by 2019.

It is noteworthy that rehabilitation of 25-km road in the direction of Lentekhi-Lasdili is underway, out of which, rehabilitation of 13 km is already completed and rehabilitation of remaining 12 km will be completed in 2019.

Regarding Lentekhi-Mestia road, which connects Zemo and Kvemo Svaneti with each other, for this moment, detailed design is ongoing. Bidding for commencement of works will be announced step by step from 2019.

Based on 2018 data, Roads Department carried out 14 projects in Svaneti region with the cost of about 92 million GEL. In 2019, commencement of 31 new projects is planned; bidding on part of them was already announced.
