Chairman of the Roads Department of Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, George Seturidze is currently present on km 12 of Vani-Sulori road and coordinates the disaster relief and road rehabilitation measures on-site.
As a result of the three-day heavy rain, the Sulori River broke its banks, swept away a main bridge of Sulori village, flooded the residents’ houses and damaged the carriageway of Vani-Sulori connecting road (on km12). Therefore, the transport traffic on the mentioned road section was banned.
By this time, as a result of implemented measures, the River Sulori returned to its natural river-bed and the road rehabilitation works are underway. The transport traffic on the road section of Vani-Sulori will be restored in a few days.
The disaster relief works are being implemented by the Ltd. “State Construction Company”.
