Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is rehabilitating 4km section of Akhalkalaki-Rkoni road. The works progress was observed by the Chairman of Roads Department Vazha Panchulidze together with the representatives of local government. 

At this stage, construction of gabions, supporting walls, reinforced-concrete pipes and entrances to private yards are underway. 

Project envisages construction of asphalt-concrete pavement; it is also planned to arrange ditches, junctions, road signs and bus stops. 

Section to be rehabilitated shall pass through the following villages of Kaspi Municipality: Akhalkalaki, Garikula and Ertatsminda and ends near Ertatsminda church. 

Cost of rehabilitation works, financed by the World Bank is GEL 2 478 000. More than 30 people are employed by the project.  Pursuant to the contract terms, project closing date is 2016, but rehabilitation works would be completed within the current year due to intense works.
