15 000 families from 20 villages use this important regional road, which was abandoned during the years. Part of the population of these villages is employed in the construction works on the rehabilitation of the same road, all 530 road builders are the residents of nearby villages.
This is the shortest road, which connects Senaki, Abasha and Martivli municipalities to Khoni and Kutaisi. Before starting of the rehabilitation works, it was heavily damaged road with holes through all the distance.
Under the project, the pavement of the road was completely restored and arranged with asphalt and concrete, artificial constructions - ditches, culverts, entrances to the yards and connections were constructed, the bridge on the river Tskhenistskali was rehabilitated also.
As the result of the implemented works the distance from Bandza to Khoni will be covered in 15 minutes, while it took 1 hour before beginning rehabilitation works. In addition, after rehabilitation of this road, it will be comfortable to get to Martivli Barbara's oldest monastery, Martivli Lore Museum, a castle - "Tsikhegoji." 7 churches are located on the rehabilitating section.
Rehabilitation of 15 km section of Senaki-Nokalakevi-Bandza-Khoni road has been started in August 2014 and will be completed earlier than planned - by the end of October. The cost of the project is GEL 7 400 000 and is funded by the state budget. Ltd. "Archaeopolis" carries the rehabilitation works according the order of Roads Department of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
First Deputy Minister, George Amashukeli, the Chairman of Roads Department, Vazha Panchulidze and Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Levan Shonia visited rehabilitation works of 15 km section of Senaki-Nokalakevi-Bandza-Khoni road together with the locals and road builders.
