Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia attended rehabilitation works carried out on 2 km long road section in Kakheti region. Respective road section is an access road to the Monastery of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Mother of God Cathedral of Gurjaani (Kvelatsminda). Rehabilitation works are at completion stage.

Road rehabilitation works at mentioned section consider construction of asphalt-concrete pavement on the carriageway. It also envisages reinstatement of structures, ditches (drainage system) and storm water system.  Currently construction of asphalt-concrete pavement is underway.
 

Rehabilitation works are performed by Georgian Roads Construction Company “Gzamsheni 2005” Ltd. Value of works financed under the state budget amounts to 990 thousand GEL.

Monastery of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Mother of God Cathedral of Gurjaani (Kvelatsminda) is one of the ancient cultural monuments of Georgia. It plays an important role in the economical, tourism and cultural life of Georgia. Within the recent years, one of the major priorities for Georgian Government was facilitation of tourism development. Church of St. Mary is the unique double-dome Church in the Orthodox world. It is the masterpiece of architecture.
