International conference “Georgian Roads and Technological Progress” was held in Tbilisi in “Sheraton Metechi Palace” on 4 May, 2010 by the initiative of Roads Department of Georgia.


This was the second conference held within the scope of the road field.  The first conference took place at “Courtyard Marriott Hotel” on 17 February 2009. Mr. David Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department attended the respective conference.


First part of the conference was devoted to ongoing and future investment programs of Road Department. Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman, made a presentation on “Georgian Roads and Technological Progress“.
 

In the second part of the conference Georgian and foreign construction companies had the opportunity to introduce their companies through presentation and talk about new technologies. Invited companies have already adopted and applied modern technologies in construction of roads, bridges and tunnels considering the terrain and landscape of the particulate location of the country.


Environmental issues, namely modern technologies for elimination and prevention of results of natural disaster, measures against slope erosion and landslide, snow and rock protective measures were discussed at the conference along with the other important topics.


Representatives of the World Bank, JICA, ADB, MCG, TRRC and other international organizations attended the conference. Also representatives of the Technical University were participating in the conference. More than 100 delegates from different local and foreign companies invited from various countries were participating in the conference.

Inc (Turkey), GP Papenburg Baugesellschaft GmbH (Germany), HEILIT+WOERNER GmbH(Germany), KİSKA PREFABRİK (Turkey), Padeco (Japan), DuPont (USA), ELBA-WERK Maschinen-Gesellschaft GmbH(Germany), Interchimica (Italy), OHL International Construction(Spain), KOCKS CONSULT GMBH (Germany), Telegra (Croatia), Sinohydro  (China), SIAC Construction (Ireland),  GeoSteel (India/Georgia), Akkord (Azerbaijan) and so on.

 

Following Georgian roads construction companies attended the conference: Arkeopolisi, Geovia, Tsekuri, Zimo, Khidmsheni, Road Techniques, Transproject, Roads Rehabilitation and Modernization Supervision Direction, Sakgzametsniereba, Caucasus Road Project (CRP), Enguri 2006, Ibolia, Serpantine, Black Sea Group and New Energy.


Respective conference will facilitate to establish relationships with international experienced road construction companies and assist to introduce new technologies in road field.
