Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia inspected rehabilitation works carried out on 4,5 km long road section, which is accessing road to Nekresi Monastery in Kakheti region.

Road rehabilitation works at mentioned section consider construction of asphalt-concrete pavement. It also envisages reinstatement of structures, culverts, ditches (drainage system) and storm water system, provision of road signs and markings. Currently installation of drainage channels, construction of and concrete ditches and concrete retaining wall for earth embankment are underway. 

Rehabilitation works are performed by Georgian Roads Construction Company “Serpantine” Ltd. Value of works financed under the state budget amounts to 3 mln 171 thousand GEL.

Nekresi Monastery is one of the ancient and important monuments in the history of Georgia. Monastery is situated in Kvareli region.  Within the recent years, one of the major priorities for Georgian Government was facilitation of tourism development. From the outset, Nekresi Monastery was deemed the cradle of culture and education. It plays an important role in the economical, historical and cultural life of Georgia.
