Mr. David Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department will conduct on-site monitoring of bridge construction over the riv. Lekhura; also, they will inspect construction process of LHS bridge at 25 km long Igoeti-Sveneti section of International Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway.

Upgrading of both directions of mentioned 25 km long section with cement-concrete pavement and construction of RHS Igoeti overpass and Lekhura Bridge were completed on 23 November 2009.  80km long road, starting from Natakhtari now is connected to Gori.   Traffic movement will become more comfortable once the road is opened, that is especially important given the increased traffic flow.  Currently, construction of piers for LHS Igoeti overpass and Lekhura bridge is underway.

Bridge in village Igoeti:
Number of spans – 7
Total Length of the bridge – 195
Bridge carriageway – 11, 5

Bridge over the river Lekhura

Total Length of the bridge – 115

Construction of E-60 highway was implemented by application of new technology – cement-concrete pavement – that is tested and approved in many developed countries and is distinguished by particular firmness and is environmentally friendly. It has long lasting operational period and within 30-35 years, the road does not require any rehabilitation works. It is profit-proved as vehicles consume 10 % less fuel while driving on such type of pavement (according to the World Bank Experts’ conclusion). Upgrading of E-60 highway to the four-lane highway will increase competitiveness against other alternative transit routes.
