Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia will conduct on-site monitoring of rehabilitation works for 18 km long section of Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda (Armenian Border) road in Samtskhe-Javakheti region.


Rehabilitation works commenced in April of the current year and shall be completed in 2010. Roads rehabilitation works considers construction of road base and a new asphalt-concrete pavement, also provision and repairing of artificial structures and culverts. At the same time, 3 bridges located on respective road section will be rehabilitated. Currently construction of asphalt-concrete pavement is underway.


Cost of construction works financed by the state budget amounts to 4 mln 838 thousand GEL. Works are executed by “Kolkhi” Ltd.


Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda (Armenian Border) road section is the main road that connects Georgia to Armenian border. As a result of roads rehabilitation transit movement will be increased. Also road rehabilitation will assist to improve social condition of the local communities.
