Representatives of Roads Department attended international conference “Highways and Underground Communications”

Chairman of Roads Department Davit Shavliashvili, his Deputies George Amashukeli, Nugzar Gasviani and other representatives of the Department participated in III International Conference of Infrastructure – “Highways and Underground Communications” organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.

The Conference was opened by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure David Narmania.

Welcoming speech was made by Vice Prime-Minister; George Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Irakli Shikhiashvili, Tbilisi City Assembly Chairman; Archil Prangishvili, Rector of Georgian Technical University and foreign participants.

Professors from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Tallinn University of Technology, representatives of foreign Companies: USIP, ArcelorMittal, CFF GmbH & KG, Prok. Dipl. HTL-lng, Bomag, IPN GbR, UV Rheinland Schniering GmbH; high rank officials of Estonia Road Administration, Phungstadt Department of Section Planning and Urban Engineering of Ecology, and officials of Austrian Consulting Company participated in the Conference.

Key issues of the Conference are the following: design/construction and maintenance of asphalt-concrete road; road traffic safety; design/construction and rehabilitation of water and sewage system; bridge construction and maintenance.

The Conference is sponsored by: World Bank (WB); Asian Development Bank (ADB); Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); KFW; SWEROAD.

Funds raised from the sponsors will be fully transferred to the fund helping the children with leukemia.

III rd International Conference – “Highways and Underground Communications” – will last for three days and finish on September 13.
