Roads Department of Georgia disclosed to media results of 6 months working 

Roads Department of Georgia disclosed to media statistical report of the first 6 months of 2013.

The report covers information on activities considered by Action Plan 2013 that is developed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The report also gives information on expenditures made for improvement of the road infrastructure, consulting services and etc.

The report highlights procurements made for improvement of road infrastructure, activities ongoing and planned on highway in 2012-2013, information on rehabilitation and periodic maintenance works.

Main achievements:

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia developed an action plan for 2013, within the frames of which:

1. Rehabilitation works are implemented at 250 km of road, 30 bridges and 3 road tunnels;

2. Construction of highway is continued intensively - construction of 111 km highway is planned for the current year simultaneously at several road sections.

Cash execution made with the purpose of improvement of road infrastructure

Cash execution made with the purpose of improvement of road infrastructure in the first 6 months of 2013 is 154 mln GEL whereas it was 113 mln GEL in the same period of 2012. Consequently cash execution recorded in the first 6 months of 2013 exceeds the data recorded in the same period of 2012 by 40mln GEL, i.e. 36%.

Cash expenses incurred for improvement of road infrastructure

Cash expense of January-June, 2013 in respect of performed works exceeds the data recorded in the same period of 2012 by 32 mln GEL.

Overall expenses of supervisory service

Overall expenses of supervisory services revealed in I-II quarters of 2013 exceeds the data of the same period of 2012 by 1,6 mln GEL, but overall expenditures rendered to design services exceeds by 2,16 mln GEL. 

Tenders

Number of procurements made through tenders in the first 6 months of 2013 exceeds the data of the same period of 2012 by 21 units and the number of procurements made in simplified manner is 28 less compared to the ones made in the same period of 2012. It is important that a sharp decrease is observed on simplified procurements as long as the Roads Department declined to use this negative practice.

Construction of highway

Construction is ongoing at 111 km of highway within I-II quarters of 2013 which exceeds the data of the same period of 2012 by 34 km. It is also important that traffic movement was open only at1,5 km section of the highway in 2012 whereas we are planning to open traffic movement at 52 km in 2013.

Rehabilitated roads

24 km much more road was rehabilitated under financing of donor organizations and state budget within the first six months of 2013 in comparison of the same period of 2012 and allocation of funds was increased by 14,5 mln GEL.
