The new bypass road of Imereti will unload the region from transit movement. Prequalification selection (10 companies expressed interest to participate in the selection process), announced by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has been completed.

60 km long Imereti bypass road is one of the segments of E-60 Highway. The mentioned tender is very important, since after completion of the project, traffic in Kutaisi, Zestaponi and Samtredia will be unloaded. Also, infrastructure will be developed along the new road. Trade points will be built, were locals would be employed. The ecological conditions will be improved in the cities.

Modernization -construction of Zestafoni - Kutaisi - Samtredia road will be funded by JICA.
