The Roads Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia is carrying out landslide prevention works at the entrance to the city of Oni, on the km 107–km 112 section of the Kutaisi (Choma)–Alpana–Mamisoni Pass road of national importance.

The project includes rehabilitation of the landslide-affected area and construction of a protective retaining wall, which is essential for the safe operation of the road.

On 1 May this year, landslide processes developed on the mountainside at the entrance to Oni, damaging the carriageway. Geologists, representatives of the design organisation, and specialists from other relevant fields were involved in assessing the situation and determining the appropriate engineering solutions.

In parallel with the works, a temporary bypass road was constructed to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, and asphalt pavement has already been laid on it. This route allows local residents and other road users to travel without disruption while the works are underway.

Landslide prevention works are continuing intensively. Once completed, the damaged road section at the entrance to Oni will be fully restored, significantly improving road safety.

Since 11 July 2026, due to the construction works, vehicular traffic on this section has been temporarily diverted to the specially constructed bypass road.
