“Today we inspected ongoing infrastructure projects in Tsalenjikha Municipality, including road infrastructure and school construction projects that are progressing actively. During our working visit, we also reviewed the municipality’s current challenges, including issues caused by recent natural disasters. The Ministry has already begun addressing these matters and specific measures are planned. The Ministry is implementing a number of important projects in the municipality. We are making progress, and in the near future we will deliver even more improvements for the local population,” said Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze during his working visit to the Samegrelo region.

Revaz Sokhadze inspected ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in Tsalenjikha Municipality. Together with municipal representatives and local residents, he reviewed the progress of the projects, discussed existing needs, and outlined future plans.

The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Ministers of Infrastructure, heads of agencies within the Ministry, Members of Parliament Irakli Zarkua and Ilia Injia, the State Representative of Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Davit Verava, and representatives of the local authorities.

As part of the project monitoring visit, Revaz Sokhadze inspected the ongoing rehabilitation works on the 7-km section of the Tsalenjikha–Obuji–Jikhashkari road of national importance. The pace and quality of the works do not meet the contractual requirements. Accordingly, the Roads Department of Georgia will review the contractor’s performance and consider the possibility of replacing the company.

The Minister also visited the village of Lia in Tsalenjikha Municipality, where he inspected the strategic water supply facility serving the town of Jvari. Eight operational wells currently supply drinking water to Jvari; however, the site is periodically flooded when the Enguri River water level rises. As a long-term solution, riverbank protection works will be carried out around the wells to safeguard the water supply infrastructure and ensure a reliable and uninterrupted water supply for the residents of Jvari.

Revaz Sokhadze also visited the new building of Tsalenjikha Public School No. 5, where final acceptance procedures are underway following the completion of construction. Designed for 120 students, the school fully complies with modern educational standards, is accessible for persons with disabilities, and will provide students with a modern learning environment.

The Minister also met with teachers and parents of students from Tsalenjikha Public School No. 1. During the meeting, he presented the current stage of the design for a new school with a capacity of 600 students. He noted that the conceptual design has been completed, the first-stage design documentation has been submitted, and preparation of the second-stage design documentation is currently in progress.

Revaz Sokhadze also informed participants about other ongoing and planned educational, sports, and public infrastructure projects in the municipality. These include the construction of Public School No. 2 in the Pakhulani community, the completed Public School No. 1 project in the Sachino community, the design of a multifunctional sports complex with a capacity of 250 spectators, rehabilitation of the existing city stadium, and the design of Terenti Graneli Park and new recreational spaces in the town center.

A number of strategically important projects are currently being implemented and planned simultaneously in Tsalenjikha Municipality. The development of modern roads, water supply systems, schools, sports, and recreational facilities will improve the quality of life for local residents, create a safer and more comfortable environment, and contribute to the municipality’s sustainable development.
