    Samtskhe-Javakheti road rehabilitation works have been completed. The project, which costs 209 million U.S. dollars, is the largest and the most successful project of Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and of the Millennium Fund.

    The project includes restoration of the transport network and road infrastructure of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe - Javakheti regions. The rehabilitated road will create better conditions for trade, tourism and business development. Rehabilitated road will help to connect Samtskhe - Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli to other regions of Georgia and will help political and economic integration of the local society as well.

    The construction works are financed by the Government of the United States, and the Millennium Corporation.  The rehabilitation works began in the spring of 2008. Construction of the road with length 224 km has been implemented, including the road till Turkish and Armenian borders.

    Rehabilitation works are underway On the 10 km section of the road Nakhshirghele - Navenakhevi, which is important in terms of tourism. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili visited the rehabilitation works. 

    Covering the roads with the asphalt is implementing now. The project includes installation of artificial structures and arrangement of cuvettes as well. Almost 100 - people are employed on the rehabilitation works and most of them are the local population. The rehabilitation works are being implemented by the State Road Company.

    Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mr. Lasha Makatsaria, Governor of Imereti region and other representatives of local self-government have discussed project related to construction-modernization of Imereti bypass at Kutaisi office of Roads Department.

    The visual material of 60 km long road in 3D format was shown at the meeting.  Specific and detailed information about design solutions and location of interchanges and bridges was provided to the Governor, Administrators and local self-government officials.

    Very soon, residents of Gurjaani, Lagodekhi and Kvareli will get to the central market of Gurjaani with new rehabilitated road.
    The rehabilitation of 29 km long Gurjaani - Chabukiani - Apeni - Kabani road section is underway.  Today, Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and George Gviniashvili, the State Representative of the President in Kakheti region, personally have conducted monitoring of rehabilitation works.

    The new bypass road of Imereti will unload the region from transit movement. Prequalification selection (10 companies expressed interest to participate in the selection process), announced by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has been completed.
    60 km long Imereti bypass road is one of the segments of E-60 Highway. The mentioned tender is very important, since after completion of the project, traffic in Kutaisi, Zestaponi and Samtredia will be unloaded. Also, infrastructure will be developed along the new road.
