    Today, the credit agreement was signed between Georgia and the International Development Association, for additional funding of “the third project of East - West Highway”. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Mr. Dmitri Gvindadze and the acting regional director of the World Bank, Helen Imnadze. The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ramaz Nikolaishvili.

    The agreement provides allocation of financial resources by the World Bank in the amount of 43 million USD in long-term and preferential credit, for funding “the third project of East - West Highway” which is implemented by supporting of the World Bank. In the frames of the project it is planned rehabilitation and reconstruction (into 4 lane highway) of one segment of East - West Highway E60 - Ruisi - Agara 11 km and construction of Agara 8 km - a new bypass. Construction and rehabilitation of the section, with total length 19 km, will be implemented by the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The projct includes construction of two parallel 140 meter long bridges over the river Ptsa  and two parallel 185 meter long bridges on the river Prone. One 81 meter long railway viaducts and 5 gateways will be arranged.  The road will be covered with the cement - concrete and drainage channels will be arranged. The new infrastructure will be developed along the road. Almost 2000 people will be employed on the construction-rehabilitation works, most of whom are local population of the rural areas.

    A new service and rest complex will be enacted at Lochini knot soon. Today, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili personally has visited current construction works of the complex which is placed on Tbilisi bypass road.                              

    Construction of the new service and rest complex at Lochini knot of Tbilisi bypass road, designed by the German architecture Jorgen Meyer goes to end. Building of construction part of the main building already has been completed. The building is grinded, heating and ventilation systems are arranged. The sanitary points located at the complex are arranged, gas and petrol stations and the semi-open picnic places are constructed. Current the works of glassing of the building, arranging of the roof of gas-station and greening of the territory are ongoing. After which the repair works will be begun.

    After completing of the construction works, the fast food, mini restaurant, small office of bank service and market will be located at the service and rest center of Lochini. The territory will be greened and will be equipped with special equipment. The places for picnics will be organized and special part will be allocated for the realization of agricultural products. The object will be equipped with 3 category large-scale parking areas: for cars, buses and taxis. Also, it will be allocated separate place for cargo trailers parking.

    The project is realized by LTD “PM Motors" and almost 200 people are employed on it. The construction is under the supervision of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.  The construction of such kind of service and recreation centers is planned on 16 key areas according Central Highway throughout the Georgia.

    Today, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, together with the governor of Guria region, Valerie Chitaishvili visited the rehabilitation works of 4km long section of Ozurgeti - Likhauri road.  The minister and the governor visited rehabilitation works of the Central Square and  Ozurgeti Railway Station as well.
    Historical Village Likhauri is very important  tourist point.  The village is visited by many tourists throughout the year to see a unique St. George's Church of Achi, Saint Mary's birth Church and the Tamar fortress  built in 17th century.
    In this section of the road drainage canals and artificial dams were organized. Currently asphalt - concrete cover is being arranged.  After completing of works, more than 3000 local residents and guests of the village will use the rehabilitated road. Rehabilitation of this road will  contribute to the development of tourism and the sale of agricultural products.
    About 50 people are employed on rehabilitation works  most of whom are local residents.

    Today the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ramaz nikolaiSvili visited ongoing works of Kutaisi Bypass Road together with the governor of Imereti region Lasha Makatsaria. Roads construction is implemented by the coordinating of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

    17.3 km long Kutaisi bypass road is a part of 59 km long Imereti bypass road, which is one of the segments of E-60 Highway. Imereti bypass road will start from Zestaponi, run through the city of Kutaisi, Samtredia and end at Samtredia-Lanchkhuti-Grigoleti road.
    Above mentioned road is particularly significant for Imereti region, as after completion of the project, Kutaisi, Zestaponi and Samtredia will be unloaded from the transit traffic. Along the new road infrastructure will be developed. The new multifunctional rest and service centers will be arranged at interchanges of Kutaisi bypass, as well as on other sections of the E-60 highway, where local population will be employed. About 1500 people will be directly and indirectly employed for road construction works, most of whom are local residents.

     Today, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili visited the town Gurjaani damaged by disaster, together with the governor of Kakheti Giorgi Gviniashvili. The Minister met with the affected population and inspected the damaged infrastructure. As a result of heavy rain and flood, two municipalities of Kakheti Gurjaani and Lagodekhi were damaged especially. The rural roads, bridges and agricultural plots were significantly damaged. Ground floors of houses were flooded; electricity and drinking water supply was limited. Relevant services of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure are working for elimination of the results of disaster during 24 hours. Ramaz Nikolaishvili has held the special meeting on which, the governors briefed about the situation in the municipalities. The Special Commission of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is mobilized on the place of disaster. The commission determines the amount of damage and works out the ways to remedy the consequences of the disaster aid and to prevent the threat for population
