Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has inspected rehabilitation works of  Rikoti Tunnel. 

Project envisages:

- Rehabilitation of the tunnel carriageway;
- Rehabilitation (removal) of tunnel lining and waterproofing system by means of modern technologies;
- Modernization of the tunnel fire protection, ventilation, power and lighting systems aligned with up-to-date requirements; Upgrading of the sewage system;
- Installation of CCTV cameras in 24 hour regime;
- Ensure traffic management and safety measures in line with European standards;

About 150 people are employed on the project and most of them are locals.  The value of works financed under the Government of Georgia and the World Bank amounts to 49,3 mln GEL.
