Within the recent years, one of the major priorities for Georgian Government is facilitation of tourism development. Rehabilitation works of 3,4 km long section that is accessing road to Kumistavi Grotto are carried out in terms of transferring Imereti into the tourist center. Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia visited respective road section today in order to inspect rehabilitation works.


Road rehabilitation works at mentioned section consider construction of asphalt-concrete pavement on the carriageway. It also envisages reinstatement of structures, culverts, ditches and drainage system. Currently civil works related to construction of road base and asphalt-concrete pavement is underway. 


Rehabilitation works are performed by Georgian Roads Construction Company “G&G” Ltd. Value of works financed under the state budget amounts to 2mln 374 thousand GEL.


Development of road infrastructure will ensure Kumistavi Grotto accessible for tourists, thus will facilitate to develop the inside tourism. Kumistavi Grotto, which length is 2 km, plays an important role in the economical, historical and cultural life of Georgia.
