At Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel, Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia and Director of Chinese Corporation “Sinohydro” signed the Contract related to rehabilitation of Rikoti Tunnel, located at 142 km of Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze road.

Mr. David Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Republic H.E. Mr. Gong Jianwei and other official guests attended the respective meeting.

The scope of tunnel rehabilitation works includes:

• Rehabilitation (removal) of tunnel lining and waterproofing system by means of modern technologies;
• Installation of the tunnel fire protection, ventilation, power and lighting systems aligned with up-to-date requirements, which shall be efficient in terms of convenience and economy. Upgrading of sewage system;
• Installation of CCTV  cameras in 24 hour regime;
• Ensure traffic management and safety measures in line with European standards.

 
Rehabilitation works of the tunnel will start in May of the current year. During the rehabilitation works, traffic will be diverted to Rikoti Tunnel Bypass road.
