Mr. David Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia will attend commencement of upgrading works for 27 km long section of Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi secondary road. Contract with winning company will be signed on-site.


Reconstruction works for 27 km length section of Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road will be financed by the World Bank. Company “Al Harma Constraction Co. LLC” will execute reconstruction works. Hundreds of Georgian citizens will be involved in construction works for respective road section.


Works on mentioned section will be finalized in 2011. Total cost of the project approximately amounts to 22 mln 856 thousand GEL. 


Project has a great importance for the development of economy and tourism in the region. Reconstruction of road network will promote integration of Georgian tourist routes into the international network. It should be mentioned, that travel time from Tbilisi to Telavi will be substantially decreased as a result of roads reconstruction. Considerable traffic flow moving towards Kakheti direction will be diverted to the respective road. While working on the design, route, passing through densely populated areas, was selected among the alternative alignments in order to improve social condition of local communities. Roads reconstruction will promote development of regional infrastructure.
