Roads Department of Georgia proceeds with the monitoring of sections to be rehabilitated

Deputy Chairman of Roads Department Giorgi Amashukeli visited Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road under monitoring of ongoing rehabilitation works.  He inspected the paving process of asphalt-concrete pavement at 12 km section of mentioned road and rehabilitation works of existing tunnel at the same road. Rehabilitation works are intensively progressing according to the plan.

Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is of international importance. Mentioned road is used by local population as well as tourists and visitors entered from Russian federation. Despite this, referred road section and tunnels have not been rehabilitated for years. Mentioned rehabilitation works will ensure safe and comfortable movement of transport through Mtskheta-Stepantsminda, it will also help to attract the tourists to resorts of this region.

Rehabilitation of 12km section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi (km96-km107) road

Rehabilitation works of 12km section of the road. The works cover: restoration of deformed sections of the roadbed, construction of reinforced-concrete pipes, concrete retaining walls at the entrances of galleries, gabions and lower retaining walls.  Rehabilitation of 2 reinforced-concrete and stone arch bridges  at KP103+44 and PK80+91. Repair and rehabilitation of the existing walls. Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, arrangement of bus stops, road marking and installation of road signs.

At present the following works are underway: Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement and structures.

The works are implemented by Ltd “State Construction Company”. The works funded by the government amount to GEL 15,500,000.

Rehabilitation of 6km section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road (km88-km93)

Rehabilitation works of 6km section of the road cover: restoration of deformed sections of the roadbed, construction of reinforced-concrete pipes, concrete retaining walls at the entrances of galleries, gabions and lower retaining walls.  Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, arrangement of bus stops, road marking and installation of road signs.

At present the following works are underway: milling of the road and construction of sub-layer of the concrete pavement.

The works are implemented by Ltd. State Construction Company. The works funded by the government amount to GEL 1,957,000.

Rehabilitation of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road (km94-km95)

The works for rehabilitation of 2 km section of the road envisage rehabilitation of galleries, replacement of the roof beams, arrangement of soil layer for protection against the landslip and installation of drainage system, repair of  galleries, the walls and columns, restoration of the pavement.

At present the following works are underway: milling of the pavement, covering of gallery and dismantling of old culvert.

The works are performed by Ltd. State Construction Company. The works financed by the government amount to GEL 3,370,000.

Rehabilitation of the existing tunnels (galleries) at km96-km107 of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road  

The project envisages rehabilitation of three tunnels, the works cover: arrangement of drainage system (ditches and drainage), covering of the tunnels, installation of insulation,  spraying concrete. 

At present the following works are underway: earthworks, cleaning of drainage and treatment of the tunnels’ surface (insulation , shortcrete) and construction of the carriageway.

The works are performed by Ltd. Mamisoni. The works financed by the government amount to GEL 4,357,000.
