David Shavliashvili and David Narmania inspected rehabilitation works of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road

Mr. David Shavliashvili, Chairman of Roads Department and Mr.  David Narmania, Minister of Regional development and Infrastructure of Georgia, along with other officials of the Ministry, inspected construction of international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road.

Construction works are intensively progressing at 4 different sections of the most complicated road in spite of rainy summer. Project envisages the following works:

1.    Rehabilitation of 12 km section of international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road(km96-km107)

Rehabilitation works of 12 km long section. Works consider: restoration of distorted sections of the roadbed, construction of concrete pipes, concrete retaining walls at gallery entrances, gabions and bottom retaining walls; rehabilitation of reinforced-concrete and two stone arch bridges at KP 103+44 and PK 80+91; repairing-rehabilitation of existing walls, construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, arrangement of parking areas, road marking and installation of road signs.

At present construction of foundation and artificial structures is underway.

2.    Rehabilitation of 6 km section of international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road(km88-km93)

Rehabilitation works of 6 km long section. Works consider: restoration of distorted sections of road bed; construction of concrete pipes, concrete retaining walls at gallery entrances, gabions and bottom retaining walls; construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, arrangement of parking areas, road marking and installation of road signs.

At present preparatory works are underway.  

3.    Rehabilitation of 2 km section of international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road(km94-km95)

Rehabilitation works of 2 km long section. Works consider: rehabilitation of the galleries, replacement of roof beams; arrangement of land slide protection soil surface and drainage channel; repairing of the gallery, walls and poles; improvement of road pavement.

At present milling of the pavement and covering of the gallery is underway.

4.    Rehabilitation of existing tunnels (galleries) at km96-km107 of international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road

Project covers rehabilitation of three tunnels, works consider construction of drainages (ditches and storm water system), covering of tunnels with insulation and shotcrete layer .

Currently the following works are underway: earthworks, cleaning of drainage channel and treatment of tunnel surfaces; (insulation, shotcrete) and construction of the carriageway. 

Total sum of construction of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road amounts to GEL 25,184. 000. Works Completion is planned in autumn of 2013.
