Monitoring of ongoing works in West Georgia is in progress 

Chairman of Roads Department Davit Shavliashvili and Deputy Chairman Ioseb Kadagishvili continued monitoring of road works ongoing in West Georgia. Today they inspected progress of construction works at Kobuleti Bypass road.

Respective project is divided in two Lots. Construction of first section (Lot) is expected to be finished by August of 2013, but construction of the second section is at initial stage and shall be finished in 2016.

Kobuleti Bypass road – Lot I

Length of the section to be constructed is 12,5 km

Currently, construction of pre-stressed beams for superstructure on km0-km12.4 of Kobuleti bypass road is completed. Arrangement of reinforced-concrete joining slabs, sidewalks, railings is underway.  Also construction of culverts and underpasses is completed.

Construction of new-jersey barriers on bridges, provision of drainage system (ditches), also construction of sub-grade and sub-base of carriageway is in progress. By that time, two layer of asphalt is paved on 2.2 km long section.  Existing two-lane road is widening to four-lane road from Chakvi-Makhinjauri section (km30-km33) within the scope of the project; earthwork (arrangement of embankment) is ongoing on respective section. 

Construction of Kobuleti Bypass Road – Lot II

Length of the road to be constructed is 18.8 km

Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement on 18,8 km section, construction of 16 bridges, 4 viaducts, 2 tunnels and 64 culvers is planned at km12+400-km31+259 of Kobuleti bypass road.

Width of the bridges is 17 m, width of the bridge deck  is 14 m.

Tunnel dimensions (clearance) – 5 m., carriageway width is 7.5 m

Development of construction site and mobilization of machinery is completed by that time.
