The first phase of the rehabilitation works of Rikoti pass tunnel has been completed. The movement in the tunnel was opened for the winter season. Traffic through the tunnel will be carried out instead of pass road. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili visited the implemented works and opened the tunnel himself.

Rehabilitation  works of Rikoti tunnel on 143rd -km of Tbilisi - Senaki - Leselidze Road began in July of 2010. works of changing of old communications systems, tunnel strengthening works,  asphalt - concrete covering on the road, installation of ventilation system and new lighting were already implemented

Almost 150 people are employed on the rehabilitation works and a large part of them - local population.

The second stage of rehabilitation works will be renewed in spring of next year.  Exploitation of the completed tunnel will be begun at the end of the next year.
