The challenges in the construction of the Batumi bypass road have been resolved and the construction work has been resumed.

The construction of 3 tunnels and 14 bridges has already been completed, drilling and blasting works are underway on the remaining 2 tunnels; The construction works of the remaining bridges are also continuing.

As part of the Batumi ring road project, a 14 km 2-lane asphalt-concrete road, 20 bridge crossings and 5 tunnels are being built.

The new bypass will pass through: Makhindjauri, Gantiadi, Kapreshumi, Salibauri, Feria, Guchtauri and Khelvachauri.

Currently, the existing road passes through the tourist and residential area, which complicates the movement of international transit transport.

As a result of the implementation of the project, the Batumi bypass (together with the Kobuleti bypass) will completely relieve the traffic in the resort area of ​​Adjara, which will contribute to the increase of transit traffic.

The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
