The Roads Department calls on drivers to adhere to the regimes imposed on the roads

According to the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, due to difficult meteorological conditions, there are some restrictions on road traffic across the country.

Due to difficult meteorological conditions, in order to avoid traffic jams on the roads, the Roads Department will continue with the cleaning works and dumping of sand-salt mixture on a permanent basis throughout Georgia.

At the same time, the Roads Department urges the population to drive with appropriate tires for the winter period, with proper traffic and to obey the regimes imposed on the roads.

"The Roads Department will clean the road surface with snow-clearing mechanisms within 24 hours, adding technical salt, which will ensure the maintenance of smooth traffic conditions. Of course, depending on the climatic conditions, some restrictions may be imposed. We urge the population to obey the restrictions during the winter and due to the difficult climatic conditions and to drive with winter tires. The Roads Department will provide information to the population on a regular basis regarding the restrictions imposed on the roads” said Pavle Gamkrelidze, Deputy Chairman of the Roads Department, while inspecting the road cleaning works at the Rikoti Pass.

The following restrictions are currently in place across the country:

Due to snow and ice, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi international road is restricted, while the movement of other types of vehicles is free.

Due to heavy snow and low temperatures, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers is restricted on km 15-km 52 section of the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestaponi secondary road, while the movement of other types of vehicles is free. Traffic is free on the rest of the road.

Due to snow, snowstorm and low visibility, on the intersection of Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road km 105-km 110 (Paravani Pass), the movement of trailers, semi-trailers and other vehicles is restricted.

Due to heavy snow, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers is restricted on the Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri section of the Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri road, km 39-km 62 (Nakerala Pass), and the movement of other types of vehicles is free.

Due to heavy snow, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers is restricted on the Sachkhere-Oni road, while the movement of other types of vehicles is free.

Due to the heavy snowfall, only off-road traffic is allowed on the km 86-km 106 section of the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe secondary road. While, the rest of the traffic is restricted.

Due to snow and ice, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers on the Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili section km 88-km 125 (Lentekhi-Mele) is restricted. And the movement of other types of vehicles is permitted using anti-slip chains. Traffic with two or more driveways is free.

Traffic is free on km 1-km 88 (Tskaltubo turn-Lentekhi) section of the road.

Traffic of semi-trailers, semi-trailers and buses with a capacity of more than 30 seats is restricted on the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road km 138-km 186 (Mestia-Ushguli). While, the movement of light vehicles is allowed using anti-slip chains. The movement of off-road vehicles (with two or more driveways) is free.

Traffic is free on km 1-km 138 (Zugdidi-Mestia) section of the road.
